Labor Day weekend traditionally marks the end of the summer. Nevertheless, the holiday also celebrates the social and economic achievements of American laborers. Today we continue to celebrate American workers as well as work for workers’ rights. Our service will share stories from current American laborers – specifically restaurant workers – and how Unitarian Universalists are advocating for just working conditions for the 10 million restaurant workers who bring passion, tenacity, and insight into the American dining experience. Emilie will be using stories and facts from the new book, Behind the Kitchen Door, selected as the 2013-14 UUA Common Read.
