Welcome! Although technically I am still in my first few weeks at UCS, I am going to “Welcome” all of you because that is a huge part of my new role as Membership Coordinator. I am thrilled to be a part of UCS and am excited to help grow our congregation as a radically inclusive religious community. For the past ten years, I have been working in different capacities in the hospitality and event planning industries, and I am excited to put those skills into practice at UCS. In addition to my hospitality background, I have taught the seventh graders of All Souls, NYC the “Race 2 Justice” curriculum for the past 5 years. Through this experience, I became passionate about understanding the importance of multiculturalism and diversity within our congregations.
One of the first events I will help organize at UCS is the Climate March on September, 21st. I hope you will consider joining us on that day as we come together in NYC with thousands of UUs and people of other faiths for the largest climate march in history. This is a great opportunity to get to know others in the UCS community as we work together for climate justice.
I am deeply grateful to be a part of this vibrant congregation and am looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible this month. I also thank you in advance for being so good at wearing your name tags, as I am slightly intimidated by all the names and faces I will need to connect as I embark on this amazing adventure.
