Congratulations to Barót’s Zoltán Demeter on his election to Lay President of the Háromszék-Felsöfehéri District in the Hungarian Unitarian Church.
Zoltán was elected to a four-year term as one of two lay presidents at the District’s annual meeting last week. In his new role (which is unpaid), he will join the district minister and the other lay president in visiting all 20 of the churches in the district every two years, to review the work of the local minister, the religious education program and the parish’s financial status. In addition, the three-person team will represent the district in the Unitarian General Assembly, which meets four times a year at Unitarian headquarters in Kolozsvár.
Zoltán serves on the Barót church’s governing board and is active as a photographer covering most of the cultural events in Barót. He and his wife Maria have two children, Ágnes and Gergö. Maria heads the Unitarian Women’s Alliance in Barót.
