Holidays are one of the times when people feel loneliness most intensely. I often have people approach me – somewhat apologetically – wondering if Beacon is hosting a Thanksgiving or Christmas Day meal. At the same time, I also have people who share that their normal travel plans have changed, and now, they are home and would love to host a small gathering. And so, each year, we try to create a match-making dinner program.
If you have a few chairs open at your holiday table, please reach out to me, firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are looking for a place at the table, also reach out to me. There are people who would love to welcome you!
Finally, there’s always room at Calvary Episcopal Church at their Thanksgiving Dinner for the Community. Volunteers prepare and serve Thanksgiving dinner to members of our community, including residents from Summit’s Senior Housing. The Dinner is a wonderful opportunity to meet other members of Summit’s community while providing a warm and hospitable place for those who might be without family or a place to dine on Thanksgiving Day. Meal preparations usually begin around 9:00 am with dinner being served at 12:00 pm. Children are welcome. If you’d like to be a part of these dinners, either as a volunteer, or as one of the guests, please call Calvary at 908.277.1814. For more information contact the Parish Office at email@example.com or 908-277-1814.
