More than 500 million plastic straws are used every day. Even though most disposable plastic straws are recyclable (#2 and #5 plastics), the majority of them are not recycled and often end up in our landfills or as pollution strewn along roads and in our oceans. Even when we try try to request a straw-less beverages, restaurants often won’t comply. In general, people find single-use straws a convenient, sanitary tool for drinking beverages in public.
To help us meet “The Plastic Challenge”, the Youth Boutique has added Stainless Steel Drinking Straws and cleaning brushes to it’s inventory! Carrying your own personal straw (or one for each family member) gives you an easy-to-clean, healthier, more convenient alternative to plastic. Stop by during Social Hour and purchase a straw for $2 or a set of three and a cleaning brush for $6.
Let’s help eliminate single-use plastic straws (and wrappers) from our landfills, and help keep beaches, parks and waterways cleaner for us all!
