On Monday, New York passed expanding access to driver’s licenses to all qualified drivers and now it’s New Jersey turn!
New Jersey is now the LAST state in the tri-state area to expand access regardless of immigration status. New York became the 13th state to do so this week, and Connecticut expanded years ago.
Just now, representative Bonnie Watson Coleman released a statement explaining her support for bill A4743. Watch and share here.
We need Assembly Speaker Coughlin and Assemblywoman Quijano to move bill A4743 to expand access to more qualified residents regardless of immigration status towards passage. No more delays.

Parents and providers struggle to take care of their children and participate in their community without access to a driver’s license. This legislative delay in expanding access for thousands of qualified drivers is unacceptable. New York and Connecticut stepped up to protect immigrant families, New Jersey is now behind 13 other states in doing so.
Thousands of New Jersey families and children are waiting for access to a state-issued driver’s license. Nearly 7 percent of New Jersey households live with a person who lacks legal status.
Together, we can move New Jersey forward.
