The Ethics of a Founding Father and a Freedom Father
Audre Lorde, the poet laureate, reminds us of the fundamental assertions passed down by our philosophical fathers: “I think, therefore I am” and with quickwitted contrast, she furthermore asserts, “….—the poet—whispers in our dreams: I feel, therefore I can be free." Fathers Day can be a time full of contingency, solidarity, and/or irony that many of us know all too well. In some way there are fathers, who are like poets that engage our feelings and provide us a freedom to dream. Join me, Rev. Jé Hooper, this Father’s Day, followed by a special afternoon drag performance by Lady Celestine.
