Moving to Virtue 

James Baldwin wrote, "I love America more than any other country in the world and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually." In this sermon, Rev. Je takes up Baldwin's challenge as a lens for examining the institutions, ideologies, and images that shape our common life. Drawing on William Stringfellow's theology of principalities and powers, Rev. Je explores how image, ideology, and institution can bind us from our truest selves — and how love, criticism, and perpetuity work together to move us toward virtue.
