I was welcomed into Beacon as a little baby and attended religious education all throughout my childhood. I was involved in youth group where I made amazing connections with other youth and became a Coming Of Age leader and a Worship leader. I also sang and performed music for the first time in my life in front of the congregation with other youth. I was this shy little kid and Beacon definitely played a part in breaking that shell and opened me up to amazing connections and opportunities I wouldn’t have experienced anywhere else.
Growing up in this loving community gave me an amazing foundation in my life, as I’m sure it has for other youth. I honestly couldn’t imagine my childhood any other way because of the skills and knowledge I was given through Our Whole Lives and Coming of Age, through youth-led worships, through leadership programs, through Cons and Boston trips, and going to Transylvania. I think the main gift that Beacon has given to me is this deep understanding of compassion and inclusivity. I've carried these values with me through everything I do.
Beacon has been there for me for basically every milestone in my life. Even last year, in the thick of the Pandemic, I graduated from college over Zoom in May of 2020, a few months later, Beacon gave me my first job post-grad where I was producing Beacon’s virtual services and editing their service videos as well. I was also so proud to live stream produce Beacon’s Waldenathon virtual fundraiser. I am so thankful to have a place and community like Beacon involved in my life, to this very day.
