Social Justice Volunteer Opportunities

Our Beacon is getting a little brighter!  In the last five years we have grown our social justice ministry in some significant ways, partnering with our local communities as well as statewide and federal advocacy groups.  We’ve learned a lot about engaging deeply in social justice ministry and we’ve recently re-organized some of our efforts.

We want to amplify our call to the Beacon community to consider taking on a leadership role in our social justice ministry.  Are you a great project coordinator?  Do you regularly follow legislation or policy?  Can you help motivate and turn folks out for virtual phone banking and in-person gatherings?  Do you like to deepen partnership?  There are many ways to share your gifts.  Consider joining us and applying for one of our leadership roles.  Please email Rev. Robin at robin@summitbeacon.org if you discover something that will feed your spirit and share your gifts with our world.

Raising Money for Hope & Equity

Over three Sundays in January and February, our offering went to two organizations committed to racial justice. Every dollar, check and text-to-give went towards two amazing organizations: Beacon Hope & Equity and the NJ Institute for Social Justice.

Beacon Hope & Equity is committed to decolonizing wealth through micro grants that prioritize black and brown communities across New Jersey and is a supporting organization of our congregation. Learn more

The NJ Institute for Social Justice uses cutting-edge racial and social justice advocacy to empower people of color by building reparative systems that create wealth, transform justice and harness democratic power—from the ground up—in New Jersey. Learn more

Together we raised almost $3,000 that will be split across these two organizations! Such deep appreciation for your generosity and all it does to fulfill Beacon's bold mission.
