Beloved,
Yesterday, I (Rev. Robin) received a call from our school superintendent. On top of all the Covid-19 changes in our school system; it is also winter. So, he was preparing us for delayed starts due to icy roads. At the end of the call, he said in a beleaguered voice “we will do our best to keep your children safe.” Yikes!
And yet…I did not feel rattled or worried by his honest, somewhat blunt words. And this surprised me, especially in contrast to what many school communities are experiencing. Why is that?
Perhaps, because in our online groups we have an amazing group of parents who lead us in thoughtful conversation about changes and fears. Perhaps it’s the neighborhood where we support each other throughout the pandemic. Perhaps, it’s the super parent-team that found my daughter when I lost her on the school trip a few months ago.
Perhaps it is community. Intentional community. Even at moments, Beloved Community emerging.
This month at Beacon we are exploring living with intention. While services will be virtual through January 23rd, we are deepening our commitment to community. This is what fosters resilience, compassion, and justice. We practice at Beacon how we are called to live in the world.
Sign-up for a community group this month! Twice a month in a small group of 8-10 with a trained facilitator you will share personally on big themes that impact our whole lives. You will hear new perspectives and stories and find people who really listen to your journey. Sign-up here
Living with intention, Beloved, comes alive through the lived community. Wishing us each in this New Year that light and life within us,
Tuli and Reverends Emilie and Robin
