SENIOR YOUTH - 9th through 12th Grade

Our Senior Youth Group (SYG) for grades 9-12th focuses on raising resilient, kind and compassionate youth. Small groups meet throughout the year to build deep relationships with one another and a strong commitment. Our work centers our youth and elected leaders set the outline for each meeting in partnership with adult adviser. SYG acts together to create a better, more hopeful, more justice‐filled community through activities, worship, games, discussion, sharing and field trips. Newcomers are always welcome.

9th Grade marks a rite of passage through our Coming of Age (CoA) program. It occurs from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday evenings as a small group breakout from the larger Senior Youth Group. In a small group of 8-12 young teenagers, 9th Graders explore personal identity, family roots, Unitarian Universalism, spiritual disciplines, dreams & realities for the future, and the meaning of life. Their year culminates in May with a service where each student shares their personal belief statements with the larger congregation.

Our Youth Ministry has been transforming the lives of youth in their most formative years. Hear firsthand from two parents, Andy Roth and Lauren Hartley, as they share why they chose Beacon to raise their youth.

Leadership and Funding: Our youth ministry is led by Dr. Tuli Patel along with a team of volunteer adults. We encourage our members to contribute their presence, talent and time to our groups. All of us have had an adult in our growing up who significantly impacted us. We are paying it forward. Our youth groups are funded through the generosity of our members. We encourage families to join Beacon and to make a financial contribution to support this thriving ministry.
