UU Summer Camps
Are you seeking a summer experience that grows your community and feeds your spirit?
The members of the Unitarian Universalist Alliance of Camps and Conference Centers share great options for children, youth and adults. Beacon has members of all ages attend one or more of these camps every summer as both campers and counselors. If you would like to be connected with others, please contact Jamaine Cripe. jamaine@summitbeacon.org. Many of these camps talk about the experiences of children and youth. However, there are also summer experiences for adults and for whole families of multiple generations.
Camping at the Grove - This five-day camp is a great introduction to UU camping for your 4th through 7th Graders at Murray Grove Retreat and Renewal Center in Lanoka Harbor, NJ. C@tG is August 2-6, 2020. If your student loves games, art, swimming, nature and bonfires, our old-fashioned camp experience on this historical Universalist site is just for you.
Sophia Fahs Camp - This week-long camp recently relocated to Camp Echo in Burlington, NY. Students from 3rd through 12th Grades from the Long Island area and beyond serve as campers working toward creating a UU community helping to "create an intergenerational UU community that provides enjoyable, practical, and spiritual experiences in a safe , beautiful and natural environment that will inspire everyone to explore their identities: personal, communal and UU." Fahs Camp 2020 runs from August 23rd to August 29th. Scholarships are available.
Camp Unirondack - These seven weeks of camp are divided by age group so your students ages 9-18 have an opportunity to bond with other UUs their age. Following the philosophy and values of Unitarian Universalism, Unirondack strives to be a place that is open and welcoming to all individuals regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, economic standing, sexual orientation, gender presentation, physical ability, and religion. Camp Unirondack runs from June 28-August 15, 2020.
Ferry Beach Youth Camps - Located on the coast of southern Maine on a beautiful 32-acre oceanfront campus, Ferry Beach's Youth camps are open to students seeking to become a part of an intentional, kind-hearted, open-minded, and connected community built on self-expression and mutual respect. Young adults often report that Ferry Beach Youth Camps were the one place they felt comfortable being their true selves and that they appreciated being able to make friends beyond the usual school labels. These two-weeks of summer camp run June 10th to July 4th, with an additional family camp week (RE Week) July 4-11, 2020.
The Rowe Center - Along with the usual fun summer camp traditions for students aged 8 through 19, Rowe Summer Camp focuses on community building, self esteem, relationships, and consciousness-raising, offering an alternative culture where issues are challenged and redefined. As young people come to believe in themselves, they see the possibilities for changing the world and camp becomes a model for connection, for peace, and for greatness. The dates of these camps run from June 28th until August 22nd.
There are so many more options for you to continue your faith journeys over the summer.
